Heidenhain has been developing workpiece and tool probes for machine tool applications for over 30 years, particularly for milling machines and machining centers. The clamping, measuring, and monitoring functions of the probe are suitable for most NC numerical control systems, and can be fully automated, even under program control, helping users reduce costs. The TS trigger probe is used for workpiece measurement, while the TT trigger probe and TL laser measurement system are used for tool measurement.

The Heidenhain probe has comprehensive functions, such as non-contact optical sensors, air blowing/rinsing function for cleaning the measured point, and rated breakpoint protection function for the probe to avoid excessive deviation. These products have some significant innovative technologies, such as SE 540, which is the first transceiver unit that can be directly installed at the spindle seat; TS 444 is the first probe that does not require batteries; TS 460 provides more collision protection.

Effectively avoiding collisions

The mechanical adapter between the trigger probe and the handle of TS 460 has more collision protection functions and can also protect the probe housing. When the measuring head collides slightly with the fixture or workpiece, the measuring head can absorb the impact force. At the same time, the internal switch closes the ready signal, and the CNC system stops the machine tool movement. Therefore, incorrect tilting motion will not cause serious damage. The collision protection function of TS 460 absorbs minor collisions to prevent damage from spreading to the spindle or other components of the machine tool.

Wireless or infrared transmission signals

The composite signal transmission function of TS 460 and TT 460 probes allows users to obtain the transmission advantages of using both infrared and radio signals in one system. Infrared signal transmission is most suitable for fully enclosed compact machine tools; Radio signal transmission is mainly used for large machine tools.
